Licensed Acupuncturist

Licensed Massage Therapist

John’s journey into acupuncture and Chinese medicine began during a semester abroad at Chengdu University in China. Upon his return, he found inspiration in his percussion teacher, jazz icon Milford Graves, to pursue acupuncture as a practice. In 1995, he was first introduced to Gyrotonic, a movement practice deeply influenced by martial arts and swimming—two disciplines that have shaped his personal approach to movement. Driven by his martial arts practice, John began his healing arts journey with massage therapy, graduating from the Swedish Institute in 1998.

After several years of practice, John enrolled in acupuncture school, earning his degree in 2005. Over the years, he has operated clinics in Manhattan and Madison while also teaching and supervising at various massage schools. In 2025, John moved back to upstate New York, where his acupuncture practice focuses on orthopedic, neurological, and sports-related issues. His bodywork has also come full circle, blending elements of spiraling, twisting, and circular movement to create a more dynamic, 3-dimensional approach to healing. He’s thrilled to share what he believes is the next evolutionary step in manual therapy with the Gyrotonic community.

Outside of work, John enjoys exercise, cooking brunch, and unwinding with a good book in his hammock.
